WEMUSIC is committed to contemporary music in all its diversity.

WEMUSIC is the umbrella organisation for organisations and individuals across Switzerland who are committed to talent development and amateur music-making in contemporary music and who, through their valuable work, aim to create pathways into careers in music and culture. WEMUSIC connects them and strengthens their political and economic relevance as well as their recognition within society.

WEMUSIC was founded on 15th May 2025 by the three organisations Swiss Academy for Contemporary Music, Helvetiarockt and Petzi. The association’s administrative office is based in Fribourg.

Founding members

The Swiss Academy for Contemporary Music, Helvetiarockt and Petzi are nationwide organisations supporting contemporary music. Following an initial phase of around one year, they founded the new umbrella organisation WEMUSIC in Fribourg on 15 May 2025.

The association

WEMUSIC is a non profit association within the meaning of Articles 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code. Its registered office is in Bern and its secretariat is in Fribourg. It focuses on contemporary music, with a particular emphasis on music support for children, young people and adults who engage in music. Its purpose is to:

  • promote and support contemporary music as a whole in accordance with Article 2 and represent its common interests
  • foster networking among member organisations
  • strengthen the visibility of existing organisations and projects at regional and national level
  • develop support for emerging talent, particularly through education and training
  • develop talent support
  • engage in political representation and advocacy
